This helps your tan apply beautifully. What is exfoliating?Exfoliating is the process of shedding dead skin cells and ensuring your skin is in the best condition to apply a tan based product for maximum duration and a cleaner finish.Sometimes dead cells stick around longer than they should, creating rough texture, dullness, clogged pores, patchy fake tan. Exfoliation speeds up this natural deshedding process by removing the outer layer of dead keratinocytes (skin cells) from the stratum corneum (the top layer of your skin).There are two scientific types: 1. Physical ExfoliationUses friction to manually remove dead cells.Examples: scrubs, mitts, brushes.2. Chemical ExfoliationUses acids or enzymes to dissolve the bonds (called desmosomes) that hold dead cells together. Examples: AHAs (glycolic, lactic), BHAs (salicylic), fruit enzymes.The result: fresher, smoother, more even skin that absorbs products better.It’s the secret behind that smooth, airbrushed glow.How long will my fake tan last?Browne. tans last 5–7 days, depending on your skin type and how well you maintain it.Keeping your skin hydrated is the secret to a longer‑lasting glow. You can also support your tan's longevity by using a tinted moisturiser from day 3 .How do I apply fake tan for the best results?Use a tanning mitt and apply in long, sweeping and circular motions. Do not keep going over areas which have already started to dry. Start with your legs, then work your way up. Use the leftover product on your mitt for hands, feet, and face — less is more in these areas.Will fake tan stain my clothes or bedding?Some transfer can happen before your tan fully develops, our tan has an inhibition layer which is what can transfer to clothes and bedding and this is what washes off in the shower. To avoid this, wear loose, dark clothing and avoid tight waistbands or bras until your tan has set.Can I use fake tan on my face?Yes — but we advise you go lightly.Your face absorbs the product faster, so use a small amount or mix it with moisturiser for a softer glow. We also have tan products such as tanning drops or the mist which are suitable for the face.How long should I leave my tan on before rinsing?Our products need 8 hours to develop for your full colour. Always check the product instructions.Why is my tan going patchy?Patchiness usually happens when skin is dry or product builds up. Keep your skin moisturised daily and exfoliate gently every few days to keep your glow even.How do I remove fake tan?A warm bath, exfoliating mitt, or oil‑based products help break down old tan.Soak, scrub gently, and moisturise afterwards — your skin will thank you.Is fake tan safe for sensitive skin?Our tans are gentle, with added skincare as per the ingredients list, but if you have sensitive skin,or are allergy prone, always read the label and patch‑test first. Apply a small amount to your inner arm and wait 24 hours. Do not apply to broken skin or inflamed skin such as eczema or psoriasis.Can I work out after applying fake tan?Try to avoid sweating until your tan has fully developed. Sweat can cause streaks or uneven patches during the development stage. This also applies to activities such as washing up or being splashed and exposed to water.Why does fake tan smell?That classic “tan smell” comes from DHA — the ingredient that reacts with your skin to create colour. Our formulas mask it better than others, as we have scented tans which differ by colour. The scents are only present while the tan is developing and then once showered there is no smell.Can I tan if I have dry skin?Absolutely — just moisturise well before and after tanning. Hydrated skin = smoother application and longer‑lasting colour. Our formula is intentionally hydrating and so works great at keeping skin plump and moisturised.
